Messages like this mean far more to me than compliments about a photograph. A year ago, Paul was trying to build a career in photography while depending on one, sometimes two, regular jobs simply to make ends meet. Today, he photographs five or six days a week, works with Getty Images and international publications, and photography has become his only profession. The most important part of his message is not the list of clients. It is the fact that he can now live from his work without the same constant financial pressure, stress and discouragement. Nobody creates that transformation for another photographer. Paul did the work, accepted criticism, kept learning and continued when the results were still uncertain. I may have helped him see a few things more clearly, but the achievement is his. There is still a long road ahead, as there is for all of us. But this is a milestone worth recognising. Well done, Paul. And thank you for allowing me to share this.

🔴 The Red Pen returns Thursday.on my Substack (Link in profile) Ten photographers shared their images. I’ve marked the lines, light, gestures and details that give each photograph its individual voice, along with a few gentle ideas for exploring the frames further. No winners. No losers. No rigid rules. Just ten photographs, ten stories and an invitation to look again. The Red Pen: A Gallery of Light, Gesture and Story. Coming Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Central European time. #Photography #TheRedPen #PhotographyCritique

Budapest after the rain, when the streets begin to reflect the city back at itself. A passing tram, wet rails, Liberty Bridge glowing in the distance, and a long exposure made with the #Leica. These are the evenings I love during my Budapest photography workshops, when the weather gives us atmosphere rather than inconvenience. The city rarely offers the same photograph twice. The secret is knowing when to stay out a little longer. #BudapestPhotography #BudapestWorkshop #NightPhotography #LeicaPhotography #StreetPhotography #LongExposure #LibertyBridge
